words – family values

We have A NEW HOLIDAY!familyday2 Any holiday is great but this is the second time since last year that British Columbia will observe Family Day (Monday, February 10th) as a statutory holiday. One of the reasons for introducing Family Day (after all we have mother’s, father’s and grandparents day) was that there was too long a gap between New Year’s Day and Good Friday which when you stop to think about it – is way too long to go without taking another day off.familyday3

I woke up one morning thinking about wolves and realized that wolf packs function as families. Everyone has a role, and if you act within the parameters of your role, the whole pack succeeds, and when that falls apart, so does the pack. – Jodi Picoult

I don’t care about whose DNA has recombined with whose. When everything goes to hell, the people who stand by you without flinching–they are your family.” ― Jim Butcher, Proven Guiltyfamilyday4There is no such thing as a “broken family.” Family is family, and is not determined by marriage certificates, divorce papers, and adoption documents. Families are made in the heart. The only time family becomes null is when those ties in the heart are cut. If you cut those ties, those people are not your family. If you make those ties, those people are your family. And if you hate those ties, those people will still be your family because whatever you hate will always be with you.” – C. JoyBell

Family doesn’t always depend on blood.  Family members can be your best friends, and best friends, whether or not they are related to you, can be your family.”

Enjoy your day whether you decide to stay home and play games or go play outside – just do it together.  If you don’t live in the same city make sure to catch up by phone or skype.
