#3 Perhaps the most heartfelt:
What do the kids want for Christmas?
Jia Jia’s Wish List:
This is what I did with my old cashmere sweatersFeeling a bit blue
Dear Santa, I want a drivers license, a coat that fits and no more hand me downs. But most of all I wish for World Peace.
Where to Jack?
Jack’s Wish List (condensed from a verrry looong one):
Dear Santa, I want more coats, sweaters, toys, treats, live squirrels, an otter box for my phone and a car of my own (don’t really need the license).
I like your coat. I see that your owner tries to dress like you – but can’t pull off the look as well.I want a phone that will take good selfies
Jack, I know it’s confusing but this is NOT the otter box I was referring to. Guess you didn’t hear the word BOX?
I otter keep Jack on his leash more often because just the other day he chased this big guy all the way to the water. Seriously!
What’s on your wish list?
One of the lucky winners was Jia Jia. Last night we picked up a door prize from the Santa Paws Fundraiser – from Love on a Leash in Kits.
As a general rule I don’t like to watch Christmas movies until at least 2 weeks before Christmas. Even listening to Christmas songs…same thing. That’s about the time I begin to get into the spirit. It’s not being bah humbug…it’s just that it feels a bit too much, too soon.
But it’s close enough!
Even though I never tire of watching Christmas Classics around this time like Miracle on 34th Street (the original & the remake), It’s a Wonderful Life, the Grinch (both the cartoon & the film version starring Jim Carrey as the Grinch), Scrooge, Rudolph (the original), Home Alone (always funny) and some more recent ones like Elf and The Holiday… it’s nice to watch something new, light, fun and fresh. Something with Bill Murray.
Miracle on 34th Street – the Original
An entertaining cast, directed by Sofia Coppola (she directed “Lost in Translation” also with Bill Murray which I loved), filmed at a New York institution (the Carlyle hotel where I once stayed with my parents while on a visit to N.Y.) a dash of Clooney and all things combined, I enjoyed this one hour mostly musical very much. New on NETFLIX.
Watch the Trailer:
Which Christmas movies (animated or otherwise) are your favourites?
Jack’s rendition of The Cremation Of Sam McGee by Robert Louis Stevenson
He was always cold but the land of gold
Seemed to hold him like a spell
Though he’d often say in his doggy way
That he’d sooner live in hell
How about NOW? NOW can I chase them?
And there lay Jack, looking cool and calm
In the heart of the furnace roar
And he wore a smile you could see a mile
And he said, “Please close that door”
I think the sweater my grandma knit looks a bit small for you
“It’s fine in here but I greatly fear
You’ll let in the cold and storm
Since I left my home in Bangkok
It’s the first time I’ve been warm”
He’s so clever, that dog! He chased a squirrel right up a tree. Now where did that darn squirrel go? Oh no; not the other tree!
He likes to WINDOW SHOP; literally!
I use him as a sniffer dog – to sniff out the right pairs of shoes. Mary Janes are his faves.
It’s never too early for SANTAPAWS! A DOGGY FUNDRAISER in Vancouver. All breeds, All ages welcome. I can’t believe that one year has gone by and here we are again at the annual 65 Roses fundraising Gala to benefit Cystic Fibrosis Canada (CF).

HALLOWEEN is the one time of the year where you can be whoever you want My dog Jia Jia has been bugging me to go trick or treating as a cat so I pulled together a last minute costume using an oversize long sleeved t-shirt, cat ears and bowtie (because only cool cats wear bowties) He’s expecting to get lots of treats since he’s a bit limited in the trick department.
So it was only fitting that I become his sidekick and transform myself into….CattyWoman!
hands free selfie
We might not win first prize in the best costume department but it’s fun to play dressup for the evening and the kiddies love it. I don’t think I’ve ever been a cat before but Meeooww.
You can’t really tell in these frightfully grainy photos just how pretty my dolce & gabbana inspired fishnet lace & crystal mask is. Take my word for it.
Will your bag of candy be half empty or half full?
Politically speaking, Canada has made a clear choice. We’re off to a fresh start with Justin Trudeau as our new Prime Minister and his wife Sophie appears an authentic, supportive and truly amazing woman. Looking forward to what will come….
It was time for a change
Speaking of change, politics in the USA is if anything, exciting; and Donald Trump is if anything, entertaining…so I’ve posted two super funny short video clips you may have missed. Something to start your weekend off with a laugh.
Clip fromSNL with Hillary Clinton as bartender:
Tonight Showwith Jimmy Fallon as Donald Trump interviewing Hillary Clinton:
Hillary Clinton is all for women’s issues & Donald Trump says all the women he knows all have issues.
Giving thanks for the many ways God’s creatures’ enrich and bless our lives
My friends Cher & Trigger
I took my dog to church today for “blessing the animals.” He enjoyed the outing but I don’t think he’ll be begging to go back. People brought their dogs, a cat and someone brought a stuffed chicken.
Jia Jia with half of myfriendColleen
We are not religious but we can be spiritual. If we had to choose a religion I think we’d consider ourselves to be Foodists above everything else. Nevertheless a little churchgoing never hurt anyone and I have to give thanks to my furry little friends for keeping me safe and sane. I really believe we are of service to each otherand I can’t imagine life without them.
Tammy’s Terrific Trio
This world can sometimes be a terrible place but animals make it better. It’s a known fact that animals provide therapy and taking them to senior’s homes and prisons helps to calm people and make them happier.
Here is a little excerpt from a prayer called “Blessing the Animals”
Bless these creatures who come to us as a blessing
Fashioned of fur or feather or fin,
Formed of flesh that breathes with your own breath,
Bless them who can’t themselves
Around our hearts who twine themselves through our days
Who companion us in our labour
Who call us to come and play.
Bless them who will never be entirely tamed
And so remind us that you love what is wild,
That you rejoice in what lives close to the earth,
That your heart beats in the heart of those creatures
You have entrusted to our care.
Can you really envision a world without animals? I can’t!
I’m blessed to have Jia Jia & Jack (on occasion) in my life plus all the other neighbourhood animals that come around from time to time.
I met another Preast. Her name is Tammy (below) and she has a company called “Love on a Leash” which provides trusted dog care services with a DogSafe overnight and vacation care environment, first aid and daily walks (including group walks). You can visit her at: http://www.loveonaleash.ca/
At Tartine
AFTER that we went for coffee & dessert at TartineBakery on Davie St. They were so busy they didn’t even realize there were two dogs inside the cafe. Bless them!
AFTER that I met Mimi from Mélange Home Design and Décor. Her vision is to encapsulate a certain mixture of luxurious, vintage, and modern organic designs which I’ll be putting on this blog very soon. A sampling:
Teaser: how can you resist TOM FORD and especially these stylish coffee table Books?
I hope you had a magnificent weekend.
AFTER that, I walked home on a gorgeous summer Fall day.
THANKSGIVING is coming up very soooon! We have to give thanks all over again.
but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt Charles M. Schulz
chocolate is consistent – it will always be there for me – it will never let me down
who says you can’t put a price on really good chocolate?
It appears there are more kinds of chocolate flavoured combos out there than there are varieties of soaps or candles. I will draw the line at cedar & saffron or tobacco & wasabi (don’t laugh, it’s possible).
whether you’re feeling sweet, dark or naughty – it’s all good. sometimes I feel like a real nutbar
While chocolate might not be a perfect love substitue, it’s one of the best alternatives you’ll find produced in mass quantity. Remember there’s plenty of nice barsout there!
Heads or Tails? An interesting chocolate fact you should know:
76% of Americans say the ears of the chocolate bunnies should be eaten first.
5% think chocolate feet of the bunnies should be eaten first.
4% think the chocolate tails should go first. I say “off with the heads”
