If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun – Katherine Hepburn
He wears a hat to keep the sun out of his eyes but he won’t wear a seatbelt.
Somebody said “you weren’t put on this earth to simply break even. You’re here to break rules, break records and break through.”
Some will take chances with no life vest. All Jack is concentrating on is why there are no other adventurous dog kayakers.
Learn the rules like a pro so that you can break them like an artist – Pablo Picasso
Some like to play in the big leagues – While living in Bangkok Jack says “when my humans told me the next door neighbour had a cat I had no idea the scope. I didn’t want to be a pussy.”
WATCH: a younger Jack playing with a little kitty:
Jack, staring out his living room window is thinking one of three things: Where did my humans disappear to? What will I eat for dinner? Are there really rabbits, squirrels and mice at the end of the rainbow ? (as told to him by his mother as a young pup).
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what’s on the other side
Rainbows are visions
But only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
All of us under its spell, we know that it’s probably magic
I’m a big kid at heart. I love this song performed by John Legend, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy (another style icon), and Queen Latifah. It is definitely Feel-Good.
On another Feel-good note: The many faces of Carol Burnett.
I’m so glad we had this time together. Fond memories of simpler times and fun clean comedy.
Tomorrow I’m really excited to see Carol Burnett at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Vancouver. I have no idea what she’s going to do but that’s okay, she can just stand there for all I care. I loved watching her Acceptance Speech for a well deserved Life Time Achievement at SAG Awards 2016. If you haven’t seen it and you’re a fan you should google it.
I vividly remember watching the Carol Burnett showwith my family and grandparents. I had the pleasure of meeting Harvey Korman when I was called to work on another popular TV series while living in Tokyo. He was a regular on Carol Burnett and as suspected he was extremely pleasant. When doing their live TV skits the cast tried hard not to make each other laugh but always ended up cracking each other up. They didn’t care so much about being overly slick. Show is SOLD OUT!
When you live with an open heart, expect joyful things to happen.
Life is full of surprises and everybody has a story. I have a knack for meeting some interesting and unusual people but the one common denominator is that they all have something to teach me.
Like the time I walked Jia Jia on his 13th birthday (February 14th, 2016) and literally from out of nowhere we met this fun girl Kellie with her two puppet friends and a photographer who was trying to capture shots for Kellie’s new album cover. They expressed interested in using Jia Jia for the cover (as of course, he’s model cover material) and the puppets started talking to him on their own. Kellie didn’t say a word. We were mesmerized! It definitely added some magic to the day and made it an extra special birthday for Jia Jia. And it reminded me of living at home when my brother and I played with a human-like ventriloquist puppet that we would talk to…but it never spoke back.
And it went to prove that my dolls really did speak to me when I was a child.
About Kellie
Ventriloquist Kellie Haines started talking to her stuffed animals at an early age and when she was 8 years old they started talking back! A multi-talented entertainer with a background in theatre, clowning, singing and dance, Kellie and her puppet pals have amazed and delighted audiences of all ages throughout North America.
Kellie’s new CD is called The Story of Me, Myself & I.
The theme of my album is about turning challenges into successes. I wanted to get across the idea that it’s okay for children and youth to go through challenges. You can get through hard times but you must never give up, and I wanted to talk about this through music. The songs on this album also connect to when I was growing up on our farm. I had a lot of energy as a child and would often be found climbing up door frames, jumping from trees or daydreaming. If I was worried I would get outside into nature and just ‘be.’ My dad taught us to plant trees every year to give back to the farm. My mom and dad would walk with us three kids and talk to us about our feelings and how we were doing at school. The farm was a refuge for me and a place for me to develop my talents.
Like when my sister comes over to visit and steals my thunder and I’m okay with it but not totally
I had a sneaking suspicion that little Jack was a womanizer

These must-watch Holiday Commercials will bring a smile to your face. They were voted part of the top 12 holiday commercials worldwide. Here are my 3 favourites:
Jack’s rendition of The Cremation Of Sam McGee by Robert Louis Stevenson
He was always cold but the land of gold
Seemed to hold him like a spell
Though he’d often say in his doggy way
That he’d sooner live in hell
How about NOW? NOW can I chase them?
And there lay Jack, looking cool and calm
In the heart of the furnace roar
And he wore a smile you could see a mile
And he said, “Please close that door”
I think the sweater my grandma knit looks a bit small for you
“It’s fine in here but I greatly fear
You’ll let in the cold and storm
Since I left my home in Bangkok
It’s the first time I’ve been warm”
He’s so clever, that dog! He chased a squirrel right up a tree. Now where did that darn squirrel go? Oh no; not the other tree!
He likes to WINDOW SHOP; literally!
I use him as a sniffer dog – to sniff out the right pairs of shoes. Mary Janes are his faves.
One thing for sure is….we would ALL be in trouble and I’d be such a bitch!
Have you ever wondered what a dog might be thinking or at least feeling with the many ways they tend to express themselves? One thing for sure – you know right away whether they like you or not. There’s no pussy (excuse the pun) footing around so you know where you stand right off the bat and since they’re a good judge of character it’s not a good thing if they don’t like you. I’m always suspicious of dogs that don’t like certain people. Most of the time they pick up on negative energy so I pay attention to that. If my dog doesn’t like someone most likely I won’t either.
I’ve been watching their behaviour lately since I’m looking after Jack (an unusual name for a Jack Russell right?). Vancouver is a much different environment for him having moved here from Thailand. The weather, the living quarters, the kinds of dogs he’s not used to (mostly well behaved and on leashes)…all new. He’s taking it all in.
Jack’s favourite spot – the warmest place in the house so it feels more like homeYes, go ahead…make yourself right at home
His owner went back to Thailand yesterday and left a bag filled with stuff that puts my travel bag to shame. Not only that, but he has way more sweaters than I have. Jack is a great dog but he has a few quirks. He doesn’t like black dogs. I would call him prejudice (which is not allowed in my home) but then I found out he doesn’t like people who wear black sunglasses either. So basically he doesn’t like anyone. But he’ll adjust.
Yesterday he growled at a dog that was minding his own business across the street – for absolutely no reason that made sense to me. The dog didn’t provoke him or anything like that so I was trying to imagine what he was saying. Then I thought…
Imagine if people had absolutely no filters to the way we behave in public and went around barking, snarling, snapping, growling or wanting to take a bite out of those we don’t like or immediately go up and sniff or lick the ones we approve of. Ha, ha….not sure about this but it is funny to think about.
What might they be saying? Maybe things like…
“I don’t like the way you look”
“that sweater looks so stupid on you”
“I love the way you look and want to hang around and play with you right now”
“you smell awful – when was the last time you washed?”
“what is the perfume you’re wearing cause I like the way you smell?”
“you’re not in my league”
“you’re out of my league”
“you’re nothing but a mongrel to me”
“what kind of mix are you?”
“I just want to have fun, eat well, walk a lot, sleep a lot and play” (oh; sounds familiar)
“I don’t like sloppy kisses”
“Ohhh I like him, he’s a badass!”
“you know what…you’re just a bitch!”
“Hey guys, I’ve had a ruff day, get out of my way”
One more tiny thing….
“If your dog is too fat, you are not getting enough exercise.”
me, Jack, Took & Jia Jia
I think we are drawn to dogs because they are the uninhibited creatures we might be if we weren’t certain we knew better – George Bird Evans

Okay, the last official day of summer is really September 21st but for me today marks the end, for after today it doesn’t feel the same as we start to move slowly towards Fall. While I love Fall for the clothes mostly I still want tohang on to summer and milk it for all it’s worth. This summer was fantastic weather wise except for the forest fires, so the best thing to look forward to now is Fall boots and sweaters see, it’s all about the clothes and maybe Halloween. It’s funny though how everything can change in an instant and we still tend to adapt. Well I’m moving a bit slower this time. My flip flops are not moving to the back of the closet just yet………. I love the warmth and lightness of summer and think what you wilI but I just bought the Beach Boys greatest hits to listen to while glamping. So???
