Feel-good Friday: CooL

I couldn’t think of a better feel-good photo to go into the weekend than this one.

My two beasties letting loose & cooling off in a sprinkler system that we discovered on our walk.  It just reinforced my feeling that:

Nothing more to add except….HAVE A HAPPY WEEKEND!

Feel-good Friday: pills, booze + sex

For many they go hand in hand. Nah…not really my thing – at least not the first one two.

With Kathy Wright
With Tammy Preast

I was among friends Wednesday evening for an interactive cult classic “Valley of the Dolls” movie night here in Palm Springs at the Historic Camelot Theatre (newly re branded as the cultural center).  Along with cheating and cat fights…the evening offered up all the trappings of a controversially dated movie… or is it.? Cocktails beforehand.  Mine was a Long Island Iced Tea.  Bartender suggested something strong, stiff + straight up to get through the night.  The last time I had one was many years ago in Toronto after the Genie Awards (Canadian equivalent of Academy Awards).  My poor friend Margeaux had to pack my suitcase for me because we had a flight out the very next morning and I was in no shape to do so.  But I digress….

This is the second time since then but only because the bartender kept bragging about how perfect his L.I.I.T. was because he learned from the person who created it.  In Long Island no less.  But again, I digress….

As my friend Tammy mentioned – and this film goes to prove, fame & fortune do not a fulfilling life make.  Dolls (pills) help to ease the ups and owns of the reality of every day life.  Speaking of which I had at least two bottles to myself last night.  Actually they were candy. We were given bottles to rattle every time someone in the film grabbed a pill (which was a lot).  Also for the virgins (who hadn’t seen the movie before) we were given whistles to blow every time there was a scene with a train.  It was a really fun evening even though the movie itself turned out to be sad in the end.  And of course for other reasons because Sharon Tate was one of the stars.  And sadly, speaking of the trappings of success along with beauty, we know what became of her horrific ending.

photo a bit fuzzy – but so were we

The book was very popular in the 60’s.  Written by Jacqueline Susann, (she had a cameo as a reporter) I’ll never forget the cover.

Professional photos to come but I couldn’t wait to post these taken from various cell phones.  That was another thing...only rotary phones in the movie.  Remember them?

Have you been to one of these interactive movie/cocktail nights?

Feel-good Friday: Fido Friendly Fitness

Well here’s something refreshingly fun.

We already know they’re more dog friendly than most places in and around Palm Springs but here’s a place where you can actually work out with your pooch.  It’s called Venus de Fido and it’s in Palm Desert.  I mean I’m not sure my two are up for pilates or anything like that, but Layla is bugging me to get a membership to this place.

Not only that, but they have a specialty retail doggy boutique that’s dedicated to offering stylish, high-quality, unique products.    After your work-out you can check out the fashion-forward designer apparel, carriers, accessories, eco-friendly grooming and spa care products, novelty toys, premium pet foods, treats to share and other fabulous dog gifts and goodies.  Oh; now I see…that’s probably what Layla really wants.

Fido & You Fitness Class

The Fido & You fitness class combines light cardio, with yoga and core strengthening exercise for you while providing agility and trick training for your dog.  You can check out Fitness Class/Workshop Calendar for dates and times.

These classes are reason enough to move to Palm Desert:

Make Over Monday – All Day Spa Special and Happy Hour (4-6p)

Trunk Show Tuesday – Happy Hour (4-6p)

Wine Down Wednesday – Happy Hour (4-6p)

Yappy Hour Thursday – Happy Hour (4-6p)

The thing is, will you be able to keep up to your canine?

Monday Mood Board #7

Wonders of the World

We cannot start talking about all the natural wonders of the world without a shout out to WONDER WOMAN!  I mean; c’mon….what girl did not want to embody the image of Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman?   So having said that, I don’t know very much about the new movie (not starring Lynda Carter) but I’m willing to go see it with my sis.  Because WW gets things done.

It’s never too late to start a mantra!

There must always be something to celebrate – how about just living?

This is an older photo from my scuba days in Jamaica.  I wore stripes so that the angel fish would think I was one of them.  But they knew I was no Angel.  Clownfish maybe?

Monument Valley, Arizona must be one of the most natural spiritual settings on earth.  I took this photo on one of our glamping trips.  It’s also the setting for many John Wayne old spaghetti Westerns.

These are somewhat thought out random posts.  Because like you, my mood always changes!  Welcome to the week.

Feel-good Friday: It’s here!

SUMMER has officially arrived in all its sunny glory.  Here is how I celebrated the very first day.

Not exactly diving into the first day but still enjoying the pool and wondering where have all the ducks gone?
A girly get together for another birthday celebration. L-R Sylvain, Louise #2, Rosa, Louise #1 (birthday girl), hostess Colleen (in her stunning  garden).
Rosa & Jia Jia.  I’m so relieved he didn’t jump fall into the pool like he once did in Las Vegas.

Louise, Colleen, mango cake & local strawberries
Shady Lady Selfie (RAEN, LA Durante Sunglasses from Summer Box of Style; yeah! – gotta get my plug in)

How did you celebrate?

Feel-good Friday: bien sur!

Another French Lesson courtesy ofparis3

I don’t know any better way to practice my French other than taking little tips from My Little Paris, a crazy fun blog  and way more French than mine will ever be.  It brings a smile to mon visage every time they post. And girls; OUI just want to have fun.  Oops; better brush up on my waist, I’m behind  (or above depending how you look at it) a few inches.

Fyi: fun is fun in French too.

Feel-Lucky Friday

The half-Irish in me

Enjoying a local beer & a box of chocolate covered gummy bears (talk about luck; they now come in a convenient candy package) in a comfy reclining chair at the Pickford Theatre.

Bad St. Paddys Day Jokes:

“This is the one day of the year where green’s meaning shifts from saving the environment to polluting our major organs.”

“St. Patricks day is like Valentines day for those who love Jameson (whiskey) and bad decisions.”

“It’s also the one holiday where full-blown alcoholism could possibly go undetected.”

My favourite: “An Irish guy walks out of a bar….No; really, it can happen!”

Green Light Ahead.  I’m going for it!

Enjoy the day even if you’re not even part Irish!

Feel-good Friday: Doggone it!

It’s time to let the mouse out of the bagjack1
