A new beauty launch. This time by actress-turned-CEO Jessica Alba as she branches out, adding a beauty line to her Honest Company, known for its eco-friendly household and baby products.
Jessica Alba didn’t build a $1 billion company by playing it safe.
The Honesty Company has turned Jessica, 34, into a bona fide entrepreneur – and a rich one at that – and now the gorgeous mom-of-two is set to sell a new line of cosmetics from the all-natural and organic-focused brand.
The Instagram account for Honest Beauty launched and started teasing the new line a week ago, but yesterday the brand shared a sneak peek at the upcoming collection.
‘Take a first look at the development of our color collection,’ reads the caption under the snap, which features pink and red-pigmented products that appear to be lip glosses and blush powders.

The cosmetics will likely be marketed as eco-friendly, safe, and sustainable, which are all major tenets of the company and characteristics that Jessica has been vocal about in the past.
‘There’s a real need for beauty products that aren’t like piling dirt on your face, are healthy and don’t make you sick but actually work and feel luxurious,’ she told Cosmopolitan.co.uk earlier this year.

These remind me of St-Tropez when I was in St. Tropez…that one time in my life….but still they remind me of there. Funny, as I’m posting these I’ve come to realize that I’ve been wearing more black this summer and more white this past winter. We’re talking about what is considered the Oscars of the fine dining world – the 50 BEST – the results were compiled from an “independent” voting panel of 1,000 judges who discover and celebrate the diverse gastronomic talents and communities across the globe.

“El Celler de Can Roca” — The place that just topped the list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. If you don’t already have a reservation at El Celler de Can Roca, it’s probably too late. The Girona, Spain, eatery won top prize at the prestigious 2015 World’s 50 Best Restaurant awards, held June 1st in London.
El Celler bumped last year’s victor, Copenhagen’s forage-friendly Noma down to third, and pipped Modena, Italy’s, Osteria Francescana into second at the event.
Receiving the award to a standing ovation, head chef Joan Roca i Fontane dedicated the prize to those around him. “This success is also for our family, thanks family for your patience, for our wives, our kids, also our team — the best team in the world,” he said.
This year’s results were preceded by an announcement that 2016’s 50 Best ceremony will, for the first time, not take place in London, but in New York. The move, organizers said, would make the event “truly global.” This will be reflected not just in restaurants we celebrate but also in the locations of the events themselves.
I don’t see Vancouver anywhere on this list. Here’s my vote for the Best Pie: It goes to Savary Island Pie Company in West Vancouver for it’s to-die-forButtermilk Pie.
You have to wonder how in the world these people manage to make these decisions with so many fine restaurants popping up all over. It must be a difficult job. One I wouldn’t mind being a part of.

He is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale.Since July 2008, Niemann has been writing and illustrating the whimsical Abstract City, a New York Times blog, renamed Abstract Sunday in 2011, when the blog’s home became The New York Times Magazine. My dad was a character. He thought I was beautiful, capable and smart. He told me he once got out of a speeding ticket (a regular occurrence) by distracting the cop by showing him my photograph. He never got charged. Just an example of the kind of person he was.
I am the eldest of two other siblings. We were blessed with salt of the earth, very loving but overly-protective parents with good values that we took for granted since I’ve come to realize in this day and age it is not the norm. It grounds us and makes us who we are – very close, family oriented (even with no children of our own) good gracious grownups but very childish at times. Because of our upbringing we look out for each other, our partners in life and will put up a fight to make things work out the best we can. Sometimes we can’t but the intention is always good from the heart. We share that in common. Sometimes we argue and fight but always make up in the end. We can decide to break the mold but our parents are the ones who set it. We were very lucky. Maybe that explains why…

I started spritzing Evian water (the equivalent of Perrier but for your face) in the spray bottle on my skin in my late teens and have been using a facial spray ever since. More recipes to come. I’ve been testing out some fresh originals (I like to try different things to make cooking an enjoyable experience – not just necessary but fun so it never becomes boring). Look for: the ultimate all-around dry rub (use it on everything from fish to tex-mex), a very pretty looking & great tasting Meyer Lemon Tart (from a restaurant in Paris), crazy delicious Danish-style cookies (with some unusual ingredients) and MORE.
Having said that, I want food day Tuesday to not be only recipes as you’ve seen from time to time. I’m interested in food in general so I want to talk about the latest trends, productivity, farmers markets, what’s new on the food front, etc. and throw in a sprinkling of restaurant reviews. It’s the whole experience. Also, flavoursome new ways to cook otherwise humdrum vegetables…like cauliflower and brussels sprouts (well to me they’re ordinary and bland but even these can be spruced up to become surprisingly edible). You’ll see!

Have you heard about The Museo Subacuático de Arte (MUSA), located off the coast of Isla Mujeres in Mexico’s Maya Riviera?

It’s the world’s largest underwater museum.
It looks like a pretty cool place. And, being underwater it has to be cool. I want to dive right in.
Composed of over 500 life-sized sculptures, MUSA offers incredible displays hidden 28 feet below the ocean’s surface. That means that the only way it can be explored is by diving or snorkeling. For me, having already been to Isla Mujeres, and since becoming an advanced certified scuba diver it would be an adventurous outing.

The project began in 2009 as an effort to protect the endangered Mesoamerican Reef (the second-largest barrier reef in the world) by diverting divers and snorkelers to MUSA.
Roberto Díaz Abraham, one of the founders of the museum, describes it as an “art of conservation.” Each sculpture holds special nooks and crannies that help to support the breeding of marine life while providing a safe habitat.
Taylor models his sculptures after local residents from his nearby fishing town of Puerto Morelos and covers them with a marine-grade cement consisting of a PH-neutral surface that promotes coral growth. He allows the plaster to dry before removing it and filling in the remainder of the sculptures.
Since they’re made with this marine-grade cement, the statues have become covered in algae and coral to make for a stunning sight.

Some of Taylor’s works are a satirical commentary on humanity. He created “The Banker,” a series of men in business suits submerging their heads in sand, after attending a climate-change conference in Cancun.
“It represents the loud acknowledgment made about the issue, but when it comes to taking action nobody wants to stick their neck out and do something about it,” Taylor said about the work.
Some of his works symbolize the growth of new life. “The Resurrection” was created using coral fans that had broken off during a thunderstorm in Cancun.

You’ll also find statues of people you might recognize. “The Anchors” is molded from the heads of “Today” show anchors Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and Natalie Morales, and NBC News correspondent Kerry Sanders.
But what’s most fascinating is that each of his works is built to aid in the protection and understanding of marine life. “The Ear” is a work installed with a hydrophone and hard drive. It allows researchers to study marine life via audio.
“Anthropocene,” or the Volkswagen, is made specifically for lobsters. Taylor created the piece after fisherman wiped out about 50 lobsters previously living in his “Silent Evolution” display. The car has holes to allow the shellfish to enter the sculpture, and inside it is stacked with shelving units where the creatures like to sleep.
MUSA offers an exploration into a world that’s remained a mystery.
“Two-thirds of our world is water, but there’s so much in that incredible world that’s still unknown,” said Taylor.

There are two different exhibits within the museum: Salon Manchones, which holds 475 sculptures and is 8m (27 ft.) deep and Punta Nizuc, which offers a shallow snorkeling area about 4m (13 ft.) deep and a semi-submersible boat as an alternative to diving.
MUSA is open year-round for public viewing; however, because the diving site is protected as a conservation area, you’ll need to sign up with one of the museum’s selected tour guides to access the site. Tickets cost about $60 for a two-hour tour.
